Meditation for Beginners: Easy Ways To Begin Meditating
Everyone has to start somewhere and meditation is no exception. Here are some tips for meditation beginners.
1. Don’t worry about whether or not you are meditating correctly
If you follow the instructions during your meditation then there’s a high chance you’re meditating correctly. One of the main aims of meditation is to help you to relax. So there’s no point thinking all the time “Am I doing it right?” There’s a very high likelihood that all is well with your technique. And even if you didn’t get something quite “right” then, well, does it matter? It’s not like you have just completed an exam. Chill out and have some fun for a change.
2. Don’t just stick to one meditation method
We’re not all the same. In turn that means not everybody will find the same meditation technique is the one that’s best for them. It’s quite possible that if your target isn’t the same, another method is more appropriate. Most times, I’ll listen to a binaural beats meditation because that drops me down into a state of deep meditation quickly and all I have to do is listen. I guess you could call me lazy in that respect. But for healing myself – maybe my eyes are sore or I’ve got a headache – then a guided meditation would be my choice. And to help abundance come into my life more, I’ll use a different meditation again. So don’t get stuck in a rut. Find out what suits your own personal needs.
3. Make meditation a habit
Most people agree that it takes a minimum of a fortnight of regular “whatever” to make it into a habit. So if you’re serious about meditating, diarize with yourself that you’ll meditate every day for the next fortnight. Choose a time slot that is normally free anyway. Many people find that a meditation session first thing in the morning is good as the ins and outs of daily life don’t get a chance to disrupt the routine. Other people just pick a good time of day and go with it – maybe while their partner is watching the news on television.
Regardless of the meditation method you home in on and whenever you decide to practice it, just start! Otherwise you’ll never know how much you can benefit from regular meditation.
